There is nothing cuter than babies; their clothes are so tiny, they have big chubby cheeks, bald heads and the most adorable giggle. Over the weekend, I went to a baby shower for my friend Nina. Her husband went to law school with my brother, which is how we met a number of years ago, and have spent quite a few Sundays at football games or watching them on TV.
I’ve been following Nina’s baby blog for a few months-ever since the parents-to-be saw the sonogram, they decided to refer to their future bundle of joy as “cashew,” which is probably the cutest thing ever! They are expecting a boy but haven’t decided on a name yet. We found out at the baby shower that the dad can’t think of a name he absolutely loves so until then, he will be known as cashew.
Baby boy’s room has an ABC and jungle theme so there were stuffed animals and animal bowls/plates. Instead of playing games, we were all asked to bring a gift, a book and a story about why we chose that particular book. Where the Wild Things Are, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Love You Forever made repeat appearances (I gifted the latter). This was a great idea because we got to hear why that book was important and it also reminded me of books I forgot about but loved: Blueberries for Sal, Ferdinand, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Berenstein Bears, etc.
The only bad thing about baby showers is that if you’re childless and not married, it makes you want the future to get here a little sooner!
