I am sad to report that my vacation is over. Three girlfriends and I spent five magical days in Orlando at Universal Studios and Disney World. No, we don’t have kids. Yes, we are kids ourselves.
We’ve been planning a trip we first heard that they were building The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal. After spending the last 10+ years reading and adoring Harry Potter, it made perfect sense for us to use our precious vacation time on a nerds girls-only trip to Florida.
Vacations can be expensive, especially when you’re going to a tourist trap like Disney, but we managed to get discounted park tickets and were able to use a timeshare to save even more money on lodging. Paying for everything upfront or in installments is really helpful – that way you only need money for food and souvenirs once you’re on vacay. And trust me, we did our fair share of shopping!
We didn’t spend all of our time in Harry Potter land because you can’t not visit Cinderella’s castle! We also hit up Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) and Universal Studios (the one without HP). Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from the trip:
Dinner at Baby Grand’s Dueling Piano Bar.
I got to be part of the Indiana Jones Live Spectacular, just like my dad 15 years ago! (I’m third from the right)
In front of Hogwarts – note the shopping bags.
